Welcome

The oldest of all Cardiff hotels, the recently refurbished Royal Hotel Cardiff has been at the very heart of Wales’ Capital City since it welcomed its first guests in 1866.

Located in a historic Grade II Listed Building the Royal Hotel is on the second floor above the hustle and bustle of the vibrant capital city.

The Royal Hotel is situated at the junction of St Mary Street, Wood Street and Westgate Street, with entrances on St Mary Street and Westgate Street. (See directions page).

Many of our rooms overlook Cardiff’s magnificent Millennium Stadium, home to iconic sporting events and international concerts. The Millennium Stadium will play host to the first events of the 2012 Olympics with the launch of ladies football. Several games are scheduled in July and August including the womens quarter final, mens quarter final and the mens bronze medal game.

Many historic moments have taken place in or around the hotel. Home to the mighty Barbarians for 20 years and during “That Try”.

The hotel has been visited by Captain Scott, Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor and leading politicians to mention a few.
